The Scholastic Book Fair, originally scheduled for late November, will now be held April 24-27!

We invite you to celebrate SPARK Kindness Week in Natick, November 4-11, 2023! KINDNESS WEEK is a time to shine the spotlight on the good that happens every day and inspire people to spread kindness through their own actions and connect with others. In partnership with organizations and community members, we seek to promote small events and initiatives throughout the week that will inspire community bonding around kindness and have a lasting impact all year long. HELLO FROM THE NEW BOARD

The PTO is delighted to welcome more new board members, Shannon O’Brien and Jess Murphy!

Hello Lilja Families! My name is Shannon O’Brien and I’m excited to join the PTO board as Vice President this year.  I’m the mom of 3 Lilja Lions: Dermot in 4th, Finn in 2nd and Grady in K. I’m looking forward to working more behind the scenes to bring some amazing events to our community and to fundraise for our students and teachers. 

Hi! My name is Jess Murphy and I am excited to introduce myself as the Treasurer of the Lilja PTO. I’ve lived in Natick for the past six years with my husband Jeff and our two children, Bennett (Kindergarten at Lilja) and Addison (pre-school). As a first year Lilja family and new PTO member, I’m especially looking forward to developing new relationships within the community & school as well as helping to ensure our teachers & young learners have a wonderful year ahead!

HELLO FROM THE NEW BOARD

The PTO is delighted to welcome new board members, Rebecca Pineault and Alison Sullivan!

Hi! My name is Rebecca and I am very excited to be the president of the Lilja PTO. I have lived in Natick for twelve years and have two children - Morgan who is in third grade this year and my son Parker who is in seventh at Wilson. I am hoping for a great year ahead where we are able to grow our fundraising and our great group of volunteers. I look forward to a fun year getting to know everyone and supporting both our students and teachers. 

Hello! My name is Alison Sullivan and I will be the communication director for the Lilja PTO. I live in Natick with my husband and our two daughters: Kiera, who is in first grade, and Hailey, who will start at Lilja in two years. I am eager to give back to the school community through this role, as so much of our incredible experience at Lilja so far has been thanks to the hard work of the outgoing PTO board and their fantastic team of volunteers.

COMMUNITY NEWS

The Tilly’s Pumpkin for Our Schools Festival is back! Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 15th, 2-5pm. Proceeds from pumpkin sales will be donated to schools in Natick - be sure to mention Lilja! This is always a super fun afternoon and a great fundraiser for our school!

Registration is now open for the Wicked Fun Run! www.wickedfunrun2023.racewire.com

Monster Dash at 9 AM, 2-mile walk/run at 10:00. Costumes encouraged but not required. First 150 registrants receive a free event-themed nylon backpack!

Free Fall Festival as well until 12 PM for all runners and non-runners alike - DJ, pumpkin painting and other craft tables, pony rides, bake sale, face painting and glitter tattoos, local sports organizations, bouncy slide, and more. Come on out for a wicked good time! All are welcome - this event brings families from all over Natick and beyond. We hope to see you there!

The Lilja PTO is a group of volunteer parents. Our goals are to enrich the education of our children, support the teachers and staff, and serve the Lilja community as a whole. We fundraise to supply materials, fund programs and organize social functions, all of which enhance the experience of Lilja students and build a sense of community within the school.

We have a few more spots open on our board, and we are also looking for people to help out with some of our awesome events throughout the year (Trunk or Treat, the Lilja Carnival, the Book Fair, Yearbook, etc). LILJA CARNIVAL

Reminder about the town-wide carnival at Lilja this week! Join us on Thursday, June 15, from 4-8 pm at Lilja to kick off the summer!

  • Preordering your tickets is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. For a frame of reference, to do every ride once, play all the games, and visit all the vendors, it is 30 tickets. Tickets are also available during the event at the front booth so the 20-pack is a good place to start!

  • We are welcoming the Round Up ride this year as our big thrill ride (46" height requirement) but everything else is suitable for all ages.

Calling all burrito lovers,

LILJA CARNIVAL

The Carnival is NEXT WEEK, on the last day of school, Thursday, June 15, from 4-8 pm.

This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the PTO. It helps fund field trips, teacher grants, special guest/events and all of the other wonderful things that the PTO does. Tell everyone you know to come. Even friends from other towns. If you have never been before it is lots of fun and does not feel like a school specific event.  It is not to be missed!

T-SHIRTS FOR GRADUATING KINDERGARTENERS

The PTO is buying Lilja T-shirts for each kindergarten student. The plan is for the kids to sign and decorate them as an "end of year" project. If you're able to venmo $5 or $10 to offset the costs, it would be greatly appreciated! Venmo: @liljapto

We have new attractions, new rides, and new games – you won’t want to miss it! Since this is a town-wide event, preordering your tickets is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED if you want to skip the lines at the event itself. This is such a fun day, please join us and spread the word! All info and ticket preorders can be found on our website at www.liljapto.org/carnival-2023

We are still looking for volunteers - if you can donate an hour of your time, please sign up here!

There are 5 positions available, all are described in this document with instructions on how to apply.  Our next public meeting is on Tuesday, May 30th at 7 pm where the voting in will take place.

A note for anyone interested: all PTO boards are unique. The only rule is that all actions must be for the benefit of Lilja School. The new board will have guidance from past directors (if desired) but will be free to govern itself and make decisions that are best for the members. There is no precedent on events, fundraisers, etc. New board members with NEW ideas are welcome!

The Lilja Mural project is complete! Many thanks to art teacher Sepi Golestani, custodian Mark D'Agostino, artist Joshua Winer and his assistant Liane Noddin, the Lilja PTO, the town of Natick, the Mass Cultural Council, and especially the Lilja students for realizing this dream for us!

TEACHER & STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK

The Lilja community donated over $3,500 towards teacher and staff appreciation week last week. With those funds, we were able to provide something special every day for all 86 school employees. Arancini from Lola’s, a generous breakfast spread, cupcakes from Maine Girl Cupcakes, lunch from Sweetgreen, and a final additional cash gift on Friday. THANK YOU! We have received so many messages of gratitude from the staff – your donations really made a difference.

LILJA CARNIVAL

The Lilja carnival is coming up on June 4! This is a huge town-wide event and we are looking for volunteers to help plan it. Specific areas are sponsor relations, games and prizes, ticketing and sales, and promotional outreach. This is a really fun experience and a lot to bring together in a few short weeks. Please consider joining our main committee and email pto@liljapto.org to volunteer. We really need more volunteers or we will have to cancel the event.

The installation of the mosiac has begun on the front of the school!
